The MBA Monday Mini Men’s League continues to prove why it may be the most balanced league in the building. With just four teams, every squad has shown it has what it takes to make a run, creating a level of parity that has made every week meaningful. With just one regular-season week remaining, the playoff picture is still wide open.
Cellular Freedom made the biggest statement of the night, handling a very good APC squad, 70-57. Michael Emmanuel led the way with 21 points, followed by Zachary Gillis with 14 and 10 points apiece from Shane Rogers, Dylan Lafond and Dan Franklin. Billy Burke paced APC with 22 points, while Daniel Uribe added 15 and Michael Wiedenfeld finished with 12.
The night’s other matchup was a battle from start to finish, with Hailey Printing holding off Dempsey Financial Group, 72-68. Miguel Hernandez III led all scorers with 26 points for Hailey Printing, while E Stevens Martinez added 22 and Ryan Clegg chipped in 11. Dempsey was led by an outstanding 43-point performance from Blaze Gonzalez, with Cooper Gorski adding 16.
With both games decided by four points or fewer? No; Cellular Freedom’s 13-point win aside, the overall competition remains tight, and the final week should set the stage for what promises to be a highly competitive playoff run. One more week to go, then it’s playoff time!
