Week 3 of the MBA Sunday Night Fever League delivered a little bit of everything, from defensive battles and statement wins to some serious scoring performances. As the season begins to take shape, Pete’s Painting remains the league’s only undefeated team at 3-0, while several others are right behind them.
Concord Orthopedics picked up its first win of the season with a hard-fought 44-38 victory over Teale Law. In a low-scoring battle where baskets were difficult to come by, Ryan C led Concord with 13 points, while Gavin Pesula added nine and Trevor Pacheco finished with eight. Mike Vetack scored 14 to lead Teale Law.
Gerrette Beaulieu Verani Realty bounced back in a big way, taking down Max Value Payments 67-45. Ryan Boyle led the charge with 24 points, while Brian Roy added 16. Michael Asa kept Max Value in the fight with 20 points, and Jai chipped in 14 as the team continues to search for its first win.
Pete’s Painting continued its strong start with a convincing 91-66 win over Team Link. Connor Kelley scored 26 points, while Zack Caraballo added 18 and Ben Cantrance finished with 15. Blaze Gonzalez put on a show for Team Link, pouring in 42 points and knocking down an incredible 14 three-pointers.
In the night’s final matchup, Dempsey Financial Group handed Aftermath its first loss, 60-52. Seed Pelicans Anthony led Dempsey with 20 points, while Zach Conant added 18. Drew Petrillo scored 29 and Bryan Fisher added 17 for Aftermath.
Three weeks in, the Sunday Night Fever season is heating up; and there is still plenty of basketball left to play.
